What is Music for the Wise?
This program was developed in 2008 to help serve an underserved population of our
community.  It brings local, musical entertainment into assisted living and rehabililtation
centers at no charge to the facility.  The purpose is to bring the arts into the lives of those
who may not have the ability to enjoy community events.

In 2009, Kootenai Electric Cooperative provided a grant award to the Coeur d'Alene Arts and Culture Alliance to be able to
continue the program for the 2009 year.  This funding allows the Alliance to hire local musicians to perform at various facilities
throughout the community.  Here is what we've done so far in 2009:

 March 25th, 2009

Diana Clemons, a locally and nationally renowned musician, performed at Heritage Place in Coeur d'Alene. For an hour,
Diana performed a variety of pieces, from slow, classical pieces to tunes that the residents sang along to or tapped their
foot to the beat.  Diana’s performance was truly a memorable and inspirational one.

April 28th, 2009
Kim Davidson, a local harpist, played at Bestland Retirement Community, a home that works
on a very tight entertainment budget and was very appreciative of this opportunity.  Kim
shared her musical talents with the group, as well as answering questions from those who
  were mesmerized by her performance.

May 7th, 2009
An interactive drum circle took place at TESH, Inc., a facility for children and adults with disabilities. Cassidy DuHadway
from “Let’s All Drum!” brought a variety of African drums and instruments and encouraged the guests to join in on her
performance by beating the drums, singing and dancing.
